Nature walks are available for guests who are interested in visiting communities near the Batwa communities in Bwindi national park volcanoes national park in Rwanda, Virunga national park in Congo DRC or Bwindi national park in Uganda, freely taking photos, visiting people from their homes, local food preparation (from lighting a fire until food is completely prepared), Zither playing 9Inanga), weaving experiences, traditional dances and intore, grinding local cereals using a grinding stone, school visits to mention but few. The short on foot walk takes roughly 1.5 hours and the longer one lasts 6.5 hours or more, depending on guests’ preference.

Nature Walking Safaris and Bird watching.

Wave Expeditions will organize walk around the vicinity of Congo, Rwanda and Uganda national park, view abundant and diverse birdlife of Africa. Visiting community schools

We help guests to visit nearby nursery, primary, and secondary school. Guests learn about the African education system in the 3 countries including Rwanda, Congo and Uganda. This walk on foot takes 2 hours for both primary and secondary schools and 1hour for a nursery visit and you will be able interact with the management and students directly.

Visit Ex- Poachers communities

We shall assist you to visit local communities of former marginalized people who lived in the forest for many years. The guests will learn more about these people’s lives in the forest through their beautiful stories, dances and songs.as these people relied on bush meat through poaching, they will also present traditional materials they were using to trap animals, which was the only source of getting food in the forest. Any money you pay for the above specified walks benefits local people 80% and 20% goes to the developments of Local community tour in Wave Expeditions safaris  and a token of appreciation to the staff. This visit can be done in Akagera national park, Virunga national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Murchison fall national park and kidepo national park.

Local Beer Brewery Experience

We shall let lead in the demonstration of making banana beer from the plantation to the freshly made beer, you will get to know how it tastes and enjoy the interaction with people involved. This tour takes about about 3 hrs.

Hiking local Hills.

Wave Expeditions safaris assist the tourists to do the hike of local hills and mountains where the tourists’ experience why the North of Rwanda, The west of Congo DRC and the south of Uganda is called the Switzerland of African it is simply because it is the sector of a thousand hills. Bee Keeping Experience.

Bee Keeping is an income generating to the community and useful to their lives Such as, it cures number of local disease. During this walk, you will get to know how honey is  processed from the Beehive making until harvesting stage of fresh Honey.

Volcanoes hiking & Facilities

 We shall provide you karisimbi and bisoke hiking facilities (tents, portable mattress, sleeping bags, porters, and cooker, and fresh food, hot water bottles) and assist to get the entrance permit as one of numerous services they render to tourists. It is a bit pricey but worth it.

Milking cows & Butter Churning.

Guests who would like to learn how local people milk their cows and get butter from milk are welcome in a local family to see this amazing experience. You will get to participate in any activity around a homestead.
